Cooking With Food Storage: Pioneer Woman Best Texas Sheet Cake Recipe

I came across this recipe and decided to give it a try to show that you can make some of your favorite recipes, with a few slight adjustments, when cooking with food storage.  The changes I am making are the following:

Butter:  Using butter powder.  I guess you could also try shortening or oil.  Come to think of it, they do sound better than butter powder.  Maybe I will change my mind...

Eggs:  Powdered Eggs:  They worked for scrambled eggs, so I am going to try them in this cake.

Powdered Buttermilk:  I could use actual powdered buttermilk or use powdered milk with vinegar.  It's a toss up.  Hmmmm...

Milk:  Powdered Milk, even with it's nasty after taste.  Hopefully the cocoa will make up for the powdered milk.

Other than that, the rest of the ingredients are things you have in your cupboard.  Goes to show that if you really do need to fall back on using food storage, you can at least make it as good of an experience as possible!

I ended up using the butter powder, powdered eggs, powdered buttermilk and powdered milk.  I was surprised that the cake turned out as well as it did, since butter powder has a different texture, as well as the other things I substituted.  The cake tasted good, surprisingly.  I wasn't really expecting it to!
