October Health Challenge: Healthier Alternatives- Chocolate

Dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher.) has many health benefits: it is a great source of antioxidants and fiber. According to MedicalNewsToday

"Dark chocolate is a rich source of antioxidants and minerals, and it generally contains less sugar than milk chocolate.

Some research suggests that dark chocolate may help lower the risk of heart disease, reduce inflammation and insulin resistance, and improve brain function.

People who are interested in adding dark chocolate to their diet should keep in mind that it is high in fat and calories, so moderation is key."

Therein lies the problem- moderation is key! My grandma eats one chocolate (or more) a day. I have a hard time only eating one, but these Kind Bars are a great alternative for me. They have just enough chocolate to satisfy my craving, but are also a good source of almonds and whole grains and have less than 5 grams of sugar. (Image source)
