Christmas Advent Calendar: Ideas to Make

We have enjoyed different advent calendars in the past years.  I was on bed rest for several days before our first child, and I purchased an advent calendar then and spent my time making it since I couldn't do much else.  A couple of years, we purchased the Lego or Playmobil advent calendar with little figures for each day or something you can build.  We have also purchased cheap chocolate ones on years that we didn't want to spend a lot of money or we felt too busy or didn't have the desire to make something.

It is a bit last minute for this post, but there is still time to make an advent calendar to enjoy each day until Christmas.  If you don't have time or don't want to make one, check out these ideas for one to buy.  They have all kinds and prices, even some for pets.  You can at least get some creative ideas.

For those who are on a strict budget or just want to be creative or spend time with your kids making something everyone can enjoy, we will share some ideas.  It is so fun for kids to wake up each morning and have something to look forward to.  It reminds me a little of the joy of Christmas morning as you see what is there each morning from your advent calendar.  From cake pops to cookies, from candy to a note with a Christmas activity to do each day, advent calendars are just fun.  Here are a few ideas of edible Advent Calendars.    There are also a lot of ideas on this Pinterest page.  For those who want something unique or recycled, try this link.  And, for those who don't want to mess with any of this, but want something easy, try the printable advent calendars here.  After looking at all of these, I wish I had been a little more proactive so I could have purchased one for a toddler.  Melissa and Doug have a cute one, but it is out of stock at several places for now. or they are charging double of what it is worth.  Oh well, the early bird gets the worm!

Whatever you decide to make or buy, hope your advent calendar will bring joy to your family during these uncertain times with the pandemic.
