Living Green - One Step at a Time: Bring Your Own Container
I just found out that my favorite grocery store will let you bring your own containers when buying in bulk. I like to get things in bulk, so this will save a few plastic bags each week. Before you fill, you take the container to a clerk and they will figure out the tare weight. That way, you won't be paying for your container each time. They also sell other things in bulk such as olive oil, honey, shampoo, conditioner, Castile soap, so of which are cheaper than the prices I have paid online. If you store has a bulk section, ask if you can bring your own containers. Every bag you don't use is one less bag that has to be recycled or ends up in a landfill. It may not seem like much, but imagine if everyone did just a little. It would make a big difference!
