Simple Savings: Call Ahead and Reduce the Size

The tips for simple savings today are unrelated, but both are ways to save.

1.  Call ahead:  Before you drive out to a store looking for something, just to find out that they don't have what you are looking for, call ahead and ask if they have it before you get in the car to get it.  This will save you time as well as money.

2.  Reduce the Size:  I was making rolls and pizza bread today and decided to reduce the size instead of making the large size that we usually make.  I used a lot less cheese, pepperoni, and it made a lot more rolls.  The size I made is plenty big.  In fact, when I took some pizza bread to a family in need a few years ago, they cut them all in half because they were so big.  At the time, I just thought that is why she is skinny and I am average.  But, I am trying to learn from that and reduce the size of the things I make.  We don't need a huge portion of something.  I made some double chocolate cookies yesterday and they were huge.  They taste wonderful, but they are the equivalent of 2 or 3 cookies in one.  So, next time you make something, think about if it is something you can make a little smaller and save your waist as well as your pocketbook.
