A Little Neglect Can Result in Larger Consequences

For want of a nail the shoe was lost. For want of a shoe the horse was lost. For want of a horse the rider was lost. For want of a rider the message was lost. For want of a message the battle was lost. For want of a battle the kingdom was lost. And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

"A Stitch in Time Saves Nine"

These sayings/proverbs have been around for a long time.   They are trying to tell us that doing things promptly can make a difference.  What are some things that we do every day that could save us time, etc. if we were to attend to them right away?  Why not rinse the dishes you are using instead of leaving them in the sink and have the food dry on them and have to soak them to get them clean later on?  Why not attend to the stain on your shirt right away instead of taking the chance of having a ruined shirt later because the stain won't come out?  Why not sew a little hole before it gets bigger?  Why not get the oil changed regularly in your car to keep it running well?  Why not go to the dentist regularly to keep your teeth clean and minimize your chances of a cavity?  Why not save a little bit of money each month for emergencies or holidays instead of dealing with added stress and having to pay a lot of interest because you weren't prepared ahead of time?

  1. I can attest to the value of going to the dentist regularly to have a cleaning/checkup. Also floss regularly. A couple of minutes with a piece of floss can ultimately save the pain of cavities and gingivitis.
