Today I was cleaning one of the bedrooms in the house, and realized that I needed a different light in that room. Instead of putting it on a list to buy at the store, I went around to the different rooms in the house to see if I could find one that would work. I did some switching around and saved myself the time and money that I would have spent to go out and get something new. You can do the same thing with meals. If you don't have some of the ingredients you want for a recipe, see what you have in the cupboards and just make something else. If you want a new outfit to wear, look in your closet and see if you can use what you have and mix and match to make a new outfit instead of buying one at the store.
"Use it up, wear it out; make it do or do without."
What are some things you have done to shop at home instead of buying something new?
