Add Variety to Your Veggies: Brussels Sprouts


 


I didn't eat Brussels sprouts growing up.  When I got married, I was introduced to them.  For several years, we would boil them.  They weren't my favorite, but I would eat a few here and there.  Then, a friend told me how they roast Brussel sprouts.  I like them so much better now that they aren't soggy from boiling.  I was about to roast them, but it was a hot day and my husband was going to grill, so I asked him to grill them instead.  As I was looking through the fridge, I also noticed that I had some bacon that needed to be used.  So, I figured if you can have Jalapeno poppers, then why not try Brussels sprout poppers.  They do taste better than eating them plain, but that is because the taste of the bacon overpowers them.  If you have family members who won't usually eat them, they may be willing to try them with bacon!
