31 Days of Bread in July: Whole Wheat Rolls

Today I made my favorite whole wheat roll recipe.  I usually use white wheat, but didn't realize that I had used red wheat before it was too late.  They still turned out well.  The key to making light and fluffy whole wheat breads is to use gluten in the dough.

If you are new to using wheat, remember to do it gradually.  It can cause some unpleasant digestive issues if your body isn't used to it.  Start with 1/4 wheat and 3/4 white flour, then 1/2 wheat and 1/2 white flour, etc. until your body adjusts.  I love eating whole grains and knowing exactly what is in the bread I make.  No preservatives and no coloring.  And, there is nothing like the smell of homemade bread in the house!
