Spent $24.89 this week for the $25 Two Week Challenge

Instead of the regular $50 weekly challenge, I am doing a 2 week challenge to spend $25 each week at the grocery store.

Avocado .99
Bananas .42
Salad Bar - lots of Kalamata olives, feta cheese, stuffed grape leaves, black olives 3.71
Tomatoes 1.45
Organic Romaine Hearts 2.69
Local Farm Eggs 2.99
Local organic milk 2.79
Hutterite Red Potatoes 2.49
Hutterite Yukon Gold Potatoes 3.99
1 lb. organic carrots 1.19
Yo-crunch Triple Berry .99
Lemons .50
Green Pepper .69

Total: $24.89

I bought some of the items from the salad bar section because they would have been too expensive if I bought them separately. I could also buy the amount I wanted instead of a whole jar or package.

How did you do this week? Did you stay in your budget or get some good deals? Link up and share!

  2. That is such a good point about buying items from the salad bar instead of individual containers. Although at first glance it seems more expensive, it can actually be more frugal and lead to less waste to buy this way. For smaller families or singles it is especially important to consider the quantity needed, and not over-buy.
