March Challenge for the Month: Hot Cereal for Breakfast
For March, we had a family vote between 3 days of food storage per week, whole grains the whole month (no white flour), or hot cereal every day in the morning. The hot cereal for breakfast each morning won and so starting tomorrow, we will have hot cereal every morning. I was going to just do oatmeal, but there are some wonderful hot cereals with several grains in them or they could have cream of wheat. I would imagine that most days will be oatmeal. It will be nice to have a little bit of variety, though! We will see how the month goes and if we can convert everyone to eating hot cereal more often in the future!

A really delicious hot cereal is heating oat bran with fruit. Google Apartment therapy's kitchn recipe for heavenly porridge. So easy and a great way to use frozen bananas.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion. I have some oat bran I need to use, so thanks for the idea!
DeleteJust curious - what do you mean when you say "3 days of food storage per week"? (one of your choices) I'm not familiar with this term. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteFood storage for us is basically eating out of the pantry from the cans and dry goods like flour, sugar, rice or whatever we have in there. It means not eating things that are fresh and not going to the store for anything, but eating what we have. I hope that answers your question. If not, feel free to leave another comment.
