Simple Ways to Save: Dump the Disposables

I love disposable dishes because of their convenience, but in the past 6 months we have tried to reduce our carbon footprint. One of the things to go was the disposables. I use cloth napkins, rags instead of paper towels for cleaning, real plates, cups and silverware for meals. We reduced our trash, reduced shopping and also reduced the amount we used to spend on these things. I find I like soft cloth napkins to wipe my face with and they are much more durable than paper. It took some getting used to at first, but I am developing good habits and saving the earth and money at the same time!

  1. That's awesome! Keep up the great work and I love all your tips and ideas. I have completely eliminated all the plastic cutlery, cups, and paper plates. Now I need to work on the paper towels. The sad thing is I actually have cloth napkins and we never use them.
