Less Stuff makes Less Work

I started going through the house yesterday to declutter and clean before Christmas. In one hour, I made it through 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and the linen closet. I thought it would take much longer. It was really exciting. There wasn't much to get rid of and the work went fast. I called a second hand place to come and look at a dresser, rocking chair and table that doesn't work for any of the rooms in the house. With the money I get, I will replace some old linens and if there is any money after that I will replace a couple of items of clothing that need to be replaced. I finished a bathroom and a exercise/music room this morning in about 10-15 minutes and will do the family room downstairs this afternoon. It won't take more than 15 minutes tops to get the family room cleaned. I don't think there is anything to get rid of down there. We went through it pretty well a few months ago. We have a lot of lego sets, but I am going to let the kids go through those at Christmas time. I should have had them do it at Thanksgiving so they could make some money selling the sets on E-bay before Christmas!

Have you decluttered your home so it is easy to clean and stay on top of the work? Is it hard for you to get rid of things?
