Simple Savings: Use it Up!
We had a few days of nice weather this past week and it motivated me to begin my annual spring cleaning. My goal is to get rid of any clutter and clean at the same time. I am going through every drawer, closet, etc. and cleaning them out and getting rid of things that don't fit, etc. I have a cupboard full of cleaners that seem to last forever. I have the goal of trying to make our home a "greener" place to live, but have decided to just use up what I have before buying new. I will replace them later on with more environmentally friendly cleaners. I started with the bathroom and had a few bottles of shampoo and body wash with just a little bit left in them. We are going to focus on finishing off the little amounts of these as well as toothpaste. This same things goes for food. Before buying something new, see what you already have and use it up first. Check your fridge to see what you need to use up so you don't waste money by having to throw away food. Food can get shoved to the back of the fridge and be forgotten. How about clothes? Do you really need to buy new clothes this year or can you wait until next year and just save the money?
What things do you have in your home that you can use up first before buying something else?
