$50 Grocery challenge: Spent 45.09

Store 1: Albertsons

This week Albertsons was having some great deals! Here are my recommendations:
2.00 Motts Applesauce
1.77 Sara Lee Bread
0.79 Pasta-Roni

They also had a good sale on bottled water, but I decided not to get any. The cereal was a pretty good price, but I'm sure it has gone lower before. I used a coupon from coupons.com for $1.00 off two, so they ended up being 1.27 each.

I spent a total of 25.59 (before tax) at Albertsons.

Store 2: Bountiful Baskets
This week I'm trying something new for produce. Has anyone ever gotten Bountiful Baskets before? Have you ever heard of Bountiful Baskets? It's a co-op where you pay $15 (plus a 1.50 processing fee) for a basket full of produce (50/50 veggie and fruit ratio). It's not available everywhere, unfortunately, but check out this website, if you're interested or want to see their availability! The first time you get a basket, it costs an extra 3.00, so this week, it will cost me 19.50.

It looks like they have some other cool things to buy including granola, wheat bread, and boxes of tomatoes, apricots, etc. I think these depend on the season, but if any of you are canners, the prices are very reasonable!

Overall total: 25.59 + 19.50 = 45.09

  1. One of these days I'll try buying produce from a farmer's market. I've heard a little bit about the Bountiful Baskets.
