Touched by an Angel

(All my bags that someone else paid for.)

Today I was in the dollar store, filling up a cart of things to make baskets for people in need.  I got to talking to the lady behind me in line, apologizing for having her to wait so long.  She asked what all the stuff was for.  I told her that it wasn't for me, but for people in our church.  After a few minutes, she said she wanted to pay for all of the stuff I was buying.  I couldn't believe it!  She was a complete stranger, offering to pay for a full cart of things.  I told her that it could be kind of expensive, so it might be better to see how much it was before committing to do it.  She didn't care.  She wanted to do something nice this season, and was happy to pay no matter the cost.  I went to my car, unloaded all the things, and just cried. I was so overcome and grateful for this woman who was willing to pay to help people she doesn't even know.  So, thanks be to God for good people in this world.  I am grateful to have had the chance to observe this kind act of charity.

Think of something you can do this season to bless someone who doesn't expect it.  Buy some hot chocolate for the car behind you or pay for some groceries for someone who looks like they could use the help.  Even if you don't have a lot of money, you can make cookies for the old man who lives by himself on your street, or invite someone who will be alone to Christmas dinner.  You will feel such joy and peace inside whenever you help others.  Thanks to the sweet angel who helped me today.
