Make the Most of What You Have

I picked these last night and made some applesauce.  The apples weren't very good compared to last year, and there were worms and bad spots in the apples.  This wasn't a very good year for us for apples here in Montana.  Frankly, I just wanted to throw them away, but because we grew them ourselves I decided against it.  It wasn't too fun trying to cut the good spots out amongst some worms and earwigs.  Luckily there weren't too many, but I did it and succeeded.  We have about a quart of good applesauce from it.  It didn't take long to make it in my instant pot.  In fact, it was kind of fun to try it in there for the first time.

Sometimes in life, things don't go as well as we would like, sort of like the worms in the apples.  But, just hang in there and do the best you can with what you have.  You can still get what you want, but it may be that you have to work a bit harder than others to do so.  In the end, applesauce is applesauce, whether it came from good apples or apples that aren't as nice.  It doesn't really matter.  One may be easier than another, but it is all sauce.
