I made some graham crackers and bread this morning, and as I looked at the dishes in the sink from breakfast and baking for the morning I really wasn't too motivated to tackle them. But, I decided just to start while I was waiting for the graham crackers to cook. They had to cook for 10 minutes, so I would just spend 10 minutes now and then do the rest a little later. I got all of the dishes emptied and filled in that 10 minutes. I even got the hand wash dishes done. It didn't take very long at all.
Sometimes when we look at a project or a pile of clutter or dishes or laundry, etc., we spend more time thinking about having to do it than it really takes to just get up and get it done. The sooner you do it, the sooner you feel better about it. Even if it is just doing one or two things, just do something. It will motivate you to keep going and before you know it the deed is done. Instead of grabbing the ice cream in the freezer to deal with things, pick a spot and clean it up!
