Recycling saves money. How? Well, if you usually use 3 kitchen trash bags each week, it would cost you about $21 per year for the draw string Walmart brand and about $14 for the flaps that tie. By recycling, you would save 1/2 to 1/4 of that price to start with. If you pay for your garbage, you could get a smaller garbage can and save another several dollars per month. If you live in an apartment, you can still save the price you would pay for the garbage bags, even though you don't have to pay for garbage pick up. If you composted and were very careful about not buying things in packaging, you could even stop paying for a garbage pick up each week since you wouldn't have enough trash like this Zero Waste family.
