Name Brand vs. Store Brand: Graham Crackers

For all of you planning on making a graham cracker crust this holiday season, this is an important post to read! The taste test results have very delicious implications. It would be a great tragedy to make a graham cracker crust that tasted like a cardboard crust!

As you can see from the picture, there are three brands. Honeymaid, Kroger, and Great Value. The prices are as follows:

  • Honeymaid: $2.99
  • Kroger: $2.29
  • Great Value: $2.14
The price difference isn't phenomenal, but Honeymaid is clearly the most expensive, and it is for fewer graham crackers than the other two brands.

When the three different kinds were tasted, there was one delicious brand, one mediocre brand, and one that tasted like cardboard. Any guesses as to which was the best tasting? I'll give you a hint: it is exactly what you expect. The Honeymaid were SO good compared to the other two brands. Kroger wasn't too bad, but compared to Honeymaid, they didn't have a lot of sweetness or flavor. And the cardboard crackers....Great Value.

The winner: Honeymaid. It is DEFINITELY worth the extra money you pay!

It was nice to have one test that yielded the results I expected! At the same time, it would be nice if the cheapest brand were the tastiest!

There are a lot of good homemade graham cracker recipes out there, too! But, it's a lot of work for not very many crackers, which actually might be a good thing for all of you snackers out there (me included!)
