Simple Savings: Avoid Prepackaged Foods
This is a simple one: shred your own cheese, wash and break up your own lettuce, cut your own onions, peel your own carrots. The list goes on, but I will stop there. Prepackaged items can be 2-4 times more than buying the basic foods such as lettuce, cheese, etc. The deli might even be cheaper and have better cuts of meat than the prepackaged meats. They may even be healthier too. So, think twice before you buy something: ask yourself if you can do it yourself for less. It doesn't take very much time to peel something. The extra cost just isn't worth the time it would save you.
