$50 Grocery Challenge: Spent $48.63

I feel like I got a lot of food for my money this week. I have been so tempted to throw in the towel and stop the $50 per week challenge. But, it does help me to be more organized and careful about what I buy. I cleaned out the fridge before I put things away and put leftovers and last week's leftover produce on the top left shelf so I can use them first.

I took last week off and Michelle, one of the other Spendwisemoms did the post. It was nice to have a week off. Michelle had a beautiful baby girl a couple of days ago. Congratulations! I was lucky to stay under my budget this week. I wrote a list, but didn't stick to it completely. So, I was really surprised that it worked out. I got the following:

Chorizo sausage 91 cents
Chorizo sausage 94 cents
Organic Fuji Apples 3 lb. bags - Two at 2.99 each
Broccoli Crowns 1.63

  1. You surely got a lot of food for your money... How many people is your budget for. Our budget is $65 a week for a family of five. This week I was under budget though, but that makes up for those week I was over:)

  2. We have done a $50 budget most weeks for the past couple of years. We started with 4 people in the family and am now down to three. There were two adults and two teenagers. I do believe I could spend less, but it is important to me to have healthy food and not just focus on how low I can go. As you can see from the picture, I am not a couponer and rarely use them since I shop mostly around the perimeter of the store. $65 per week is very doable for a family of 5, especially if you live in a larger city that has better prices and if you have younger kids. I like the simplicity of shopping without coupons and a limited budget helps me get in and out of the store quickly. Thanks for coming by and commenting!

  3. Hello! I just wanted to pop in and say thank you for your words on my Real Life Minimalist spot on Miss Minimalist. I am such a fan of her blog so it was an honour to be on there. And I love the joining of people with the common interest in minimalism. I hope you had a lovely break!
