$50 Grocery Challenge: Spent $53.15

I just went to one store today: Wal-mart. It's a little ways from my house, so I usually don't go there to shop, but I had another errand that was in the area, so I went ahead and did my shopping afterwards.

It has been a while since I've come this close to my $50 a week budget- I have been buying more to stock up for when the baby comes! However, when I was looking at my pantry, I realized there was still some things that would be nice to have before the baby comes....hence the theme of the week was convenience foods. You'll notice the mac and cheese, tomato soup, and ramen, and the rest of the snack food is just a glimpse into my current cravings (aka, the pringles). We will have tacos sometime this week, and I have some chicken, and some other fresh produce that I need to use, so I feel like I will have enough healthy food to get through the week. I've had the hardest time thinking of meals lately, except for tacos, so we'll probably have some variation on tacos a few times this week. My husband also requested baked beans, so I'll make those and some homemade fries for another meal.

Because I didn't really get anything on sale today, I think I'll forgo putting up the individual prices. Thankfully, milk was only $1.99 this week! Usually Wal-mart consistently has it priced around $2.70.

If I'm lucky, this will be the last shopping trip with my massive baby belly! And hopefully once I'm not pregnant anymore, my brain will return to its normal function and I'll rediscover how to plan healthy menus and grocery lists! And, I may even be able to stay in my budget! Until then....

How did you do this week? Did you get any good deals? Did you stay in your budget? Link up and share!

  1. congrats on the new baby! Definitely one time when I know it will be okay to stock up even in our small apartment. I've heard shopping is something no one wants to do with a newborn. Good luck!
