$50 Grocery Challenge - Spent $48.65 for the week
I shopped today for all the things I could and left a little money to spend at the produce sale tomorrow. I am starting to buy meat from the butcher block more often and buying small amounts. This limits what we eat and makes it so I don't have to touch raw meat. I can just freeze the packages that are in 1 meal portions. I know I could probably save money by buying large packages and freezing it myself in separate bags, but I don't have to worry about having Ziploc bags to freeze it in and I don't like touching it.
Here is what I have bought so far....
Cranberry Pomegranate Juice - Two at 2.50 each
Tropicana Orange Juice - 2.89
Bag of reduced apples - 1.72
Cottage Cheese - .99
Large Bulk Couscous - 1.28
Small Bulk Couscous - .97
Lettuce - .89
Broccoli Crowns - 1.46
Boneless chicken - 1.25
Prego Spaghetti Sauce - 1.79 (for my husband)
Bacon - .87
Italian Sausage - .72
Boneless pork chop - 1.29
Boneless chicken - .93
Frozen Broccoli - 1.00
Frozen Peas - 1.00
Mayonnaise - Two at 2.49 each
Organic Capers - 2.40 (first time I have every bought these)
Tomatoes - 1.42
Avocado - .89
Fresh Mozzarella - 2.99
Grape Tomatoes - 1.69
Total so far...... $38.37 until tomorrow's produce run!

I spent around $75 last night, not good!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny about touching the raw meat. My sister HATES to touch it! I think it had something to do with plucking chickens when we were younger.
ReplyDeleteThe other thing about the butcher meat - at least with ours - it seems like it thaws out so much faster than if you buy it at the grocery store.
Last week was the first time I ever bought capers too! When we tried them I just look at my husband and said why have I never used these? And I am with you on the meat. I hate touching raw meat! EEEEWWWW!
ReplyDeleteI love buying meat from local butchers as opposed to the grocery store, seems like a much better option. You did good! Very low oop.
ReplyDeleteGreat shopping this week. Thanks for linking up at Pounds4Pennies this week!
