Simple Savings - Don't Let the Water Run

When my kids were young, they would occasionally watch Barney the purple dinosaur. There was an episode that I still remember. He was singing:

"When I'm brushing my teeth and having so much fun,
I never let the water run. No, I never let the water run."

Well, there are several ways to save on water. One is to shut it off when while you are brushing your teeth. Another way is to shut off the shower while you soap up your body and shampoo your hair. My teenage daughter will stay in the shower until the hot water is gone. I am sure that we would save some money if she would do this! When you wash dishes, fill the sink with clean water to rinse instead of just letting it run while you rinse of each dish. When you water your garden, set a timer so you can shut it off after a reasonable amount of time. You can also put something in your toilet tank (like a brick or a container with water in it) so it uses less water each time you flush. You can also set the washing machine to the proper level so you don't use more than you need for a load of laundry. If you don't have a switch of different levels, try to wash full loads only.

Do you have any other ideas to save money on water?
