Yesterday we made Chapatis. They weren't on the list of top 10 favorites for sure, but maybe it was the recipe I used. I just looked up a recipe for Chapatis and found a good recipe here. It is actually a video with a woman showing how to make it. It was fascinating to see how she got her bread to puff up. My recipe definitely was a bad one. There was twice as much flour and half as much water as hers. I am going to try hers and see if I can make it work. My only problem was that she said there was 1/2 cup wheat flour and 1/2 cup water, but her cups were two different sizes, so I am not sure what the real measurements should be. Let me know if you figure it out! I just found her recipe here and it says to use 1 cup of wheat flour, etc. If you want to try it, look at the recipe, but the video was very interesting to watch and I would definitely watch it before making them.
Today I am making Pita bread to go with homemade hummus with olive oil and ground lamb on top. I love homemade pita bread!
I ended up making the pita bread a bit thicker than usual. I cut them into triangles to serve. None of them rose up with a hole in the center like usual, but they were softer and perfect for dipping. My daughter loved them that way.
