Diane's Lemon Bread

1/2 cup Margarine or butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup Milk
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
rind of one lemon
juice of one lemon
1/2 cup sugar

Combine all ingredients except for lemon juice and 1/2 cup sugar. Pour batter into greased loaf pan. Bake at 300 until done. Mix the lemon juice with 1/2 cup sugar and pour over bread while it is still hot. (I sometimes poke holes in the bread with a toothpick so the juice/sugar mixture will spread more evenly) Don't take bread out of loaf pan until the glaze is absorbed.
