Beverly's Sweet Potatoes with Pecans - perfect for Thanksgiving

10 large sweet potatoes
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 sticks butter
3/4 can Carnation evaporated milk
1 1/2 T. vanilla.

Mash sweet potatoes after cooking. Add all other ingredients. Bake in casserole or 9 x 13 pan for 25 minutes at 350.

Topping:

2 sticks melted butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 cup pecans, chopped

Mix and pour on top of sweet potatoes. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. We usually half this recipe for our family.
