I read the following quote today: "Denial ain't just a river in Egypt." by Marc Twain
I think this is a perfect quote to remember when you are going through your closet trying to decide what to let go of. Most of us probably have a few clothes that we plan on fitting into some day, only some day hasn't happened for a long time. Maybe we spent too much money on something, maybe it was a gift from someone we care about, maybe it was a great sale but not quite the right color. Whatever the reason, now is the time to just let it go. If you don't wear it or you can't fit into it, think about donating it or taking it to a second hand place. The second hand sports store in our town is very picky about the clothes they take. I have brought things in and they have turned them down because they are out of style or last years model. If no one wants your old clothing, should you hang on to it? If you made a mistake in buying something, don't make another mistake by hanging on to it if it doesn't work for you. You don't have to serve penance for it. Let go and be free from it. Learn from the experience and do better in the future.
If you are pregnant, then you don't need to get rid of everything that doesn't fit you now. Give yourself a period of time to fit back into your clothes and then if it looks like it isn't going to happen, then replace them with something that fits.
How do I decide what to get rid of? Well, one way is to turn all of your hangers one way, and as you wear the clothes, turn the hanger the other way. After a couple of months, get rid of the ones you haven't worn and keep the ones you do wear.
